House @ Walshtown Beg

The site, which from a distance can be perceived as open and featureless, on close inspection conceals an abundance of colour and features. The design of the new dwelling responds to this and is conceived as a mono pitch farm building which wraps around a small protected courtyard. This allows the elevations addressing the roads to be kept muted while keeping the larger glazed elements to the courtyard and towards the views to the south. The building materials and form consists of materials and forms found the Irish landscape, such as white smooth and rough cast plastered walls and slate.
